Day 7 / Deck Pictures

Day 7

Today was the last day of one of my classes at school. I have had Dr. Krain both two years of my undergrad in Social Work. He is one of my favorite teachers. I will miss him dearly. I may have to take one of his classes in grad school just to get my Krain fix!! We also had a final party in our Seminar classes. We had pizza and cake. I had neither. I knew I was going to use one of my cheats this weekend at Oaklawn. We are going to watch the Kentucky Derby and for Scott's birthday.

Scott sealed the deck this past weekend. Here are some pictures.

Days 6, 7 and 8

Day 6

This was a great day. I took the dog for a walk around the block. Then, I let my brother take him back home and I went for another walk/run around the block. All in all, about 2 miles!! I then went wedding dress shopping with my Mom and Christy!!! And I bought one, well mom bought one!! It was the second one I tried on, and I love it. Now I just need to get my arms in shape. Scott and Jeffrey had gone to eat while I was gone, so I got a grilled chicken sandwich from Sonic without the mayo. Dinner was a challenge. We went to Christy and Josh's for a cookout. There were a lot of veggies and fruit, so that is what I filled up on. This was a great day. Oh, this was our weigh in day. I lost almost 2 pounds!!! 10 more to go.

Day 7

We usually eat out for lunch and dinner on Sunday, so I was worried. I was craving pizza after church, so we went to US Pizza. Scott and I split a salad and got a pizza with artichokes and peppers. It was okay and it satisfied the craving, but not what I really wanted. We went with the Chance's on a walk. It was mainly to scout out places for our engagement pictures, but we got a good walk in also. The last part is horrible because you have to go up a steep hill. I felt the burn afterwards. It was worth it though. For dinner, we had sushi and for dessert we had a smoothie that was under 200 calories and made with splenda!!

Day 8

I did nothing today. I wrote a couple papers that were due on Tuesday and took an online test. I have a couple more papers to write before class ends on Thursday. It was supposed to storm all day, so I didn't take the dog for a walk. What a mistake. It rained a little, but no storms. I ate well today, but was very hungry all day. This is going to be a tough week. Bad weather all week, supposedly, and a lot of finish work to do for school. Oh well, such is life.

Day 5

So, I changed the look of the blog. The colors are our wedding colors!! Day 5 has gone well. Today was the first day this week that I ate out. I think I did pretty well. I went to lunch with mom at Jason's Deli. I had a salad without cheese and low-fat dressing (and not a lot which was hard because I love dressing). For dinner, Scott and I went to our normal Friday night dinner, Senor Tequila's. We shared fajitas and I ate very few chips and salsa. No cheese dip this week :(. Jackson and I went on a run/walk this morning. Would have gone 2 miles, but my ears started hurting. Will try more tomorrow.

Day 4

Day 4 of the challenge went okay. I had to go to the doctor because I have not been able to shake an infection in both of my ears. I was put on 3 medications, which seem to be helping!! While waiting at the pharmacy for my meds, I so wanted to cheat. I wanted some chocolate so bad, but I resisted. I didn't get to exercise and I kinda wish I would have just done it because Jackson wanted to so badly. Will update tomorrow on how much I have lost in the first week.

Day 2 and 3

Day 2 went well. I did not have to use any cheats. I was at school most of the day, so I think that is why it went so well. For dinner, we had a vegatable stir-fry and homemade carrot salad (with low fat mayo). It was so good. Today has not gone very well. I ate breakfast but was still hungry. I had a couple of chips and went to work on a term paper I needed to get done. Jackson drove me crazy. He was all over my papers and just plain wild. I got my paper done and took him for a walk. It went okay, but since it was trash day, he wanted to stop and smell everyone's trash can (thank goodness the trash man had already come). About half way through, we ran for almost the rest of the way. Boy was I tired, and I'm pretty sure Jackson was too because he has been sleeping since then. I need to get my stamina built up so I can walk/run longer than a mile. I ate leftover dinner for lunch, but am sitting here starving. I think I may have some fruit. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. Oh, and I have only had one Diet Dr. Pepper in 3 days!! Not trying to cut them out, just drink less caffeine.

Day 1 of the Challenge

So, I was supposed to wake up at 5:45 to go running with Jackson, but I slept in. I will start my exercise on Wednesday since I have school from 8 to 5 tomorrow. The healthy eating has been going good. The only thing I have had a problem with is the lack of caffeine. I am trying my hardest not to drink any Diet Dr. Pepper, but I think I may have to have one a day. I will be updating each day of the challenge. Thanks for the support.

Just What I Needed

I will finish with the Colorado blog eventually. Just a quick note. I was looking at friend's blogs and came upon something that sounded great. I am going to start a 42 day weight loss program along with some fabulous people. I don't know many, maybe only 1. I think this is just what I need. It will help tremendously with my diabetes, but also get me into shape. I have been telling Scott that we need to start cooking better and I wanted to start a diet. I'm glad that I came upon this. You can check it out on the Precious Moments blog to the right. Thanks for coming up with a great idea.

Colorado 2009

Last week we were in Winter Park, Colorado. This was our third year to go there. The first day, Sunday, we were there it was beautiful, a balmy 50 degrees and sunny. We should have skied this day, but instead we went shopping. We took our skis and equipment to the base of the mountain to store. They have a new lift that takes you to the new part of the base, The Village, to the parking lot. They also now have wagons to haul your things. We ate at a new place on Sunday night, Gausteaus Eichler. They had both traditional German food or fondue. We chose to eat the fondue. It was an experience neither of us had had before. We had cheese fondue with bread, apples and broccoli; meat fondue with sirloin, shrimp and chicken; and chocolate fondue with pound cake, strawberries, melon and pineapple. It was good, but overwhelming. We will not be visiting this restaurant again. Monday, we went skiing. Scott and I did not start the day off well because I was annoyed. I ended up falling a couple of times, one was really bad. I flipped over and one ski was stuck under my bottom. I just laid on the ground because I was hurting so bad. The guys in the lift above me shouted down to me to see if I was okay. I was okay, but my ankle was hurt. I tried to ski a little longer, and eventually had to go in because I could not move my skis to the left. We went to the hot tub and to a nice dinner. Scott proposed to me this night!! It was a total shock. This night we went to Dino's Mountain Bistro. We both had steak and neither of us liked what we got. The only good thing I had was the berry pie dessert. We will not be visiting this restaurant again either. Tuesday, we stayed in because my ankle still hurt. We went to our regular tubing outing and had a great time. They had a new area to tube down that was steep and slick!! We went to eat at our old standby, Hernando's. They have such good pizza. Wednesday, Scott skied and I went for a massage. The massage was great. Scott had a great day of skiing the areas that I don't ski with him. We ate at a new place, The Green Olive. We got lost trying to find it, so it was doomed from the beginning. The waitress was very weird and the food was not very good. I got shrimp pasta and was appalled when I saw that the shrimp covered with melted cheese still had the tails on them. What a disaster. We will not visit this place again either. The next two days are covered in the next post.
The condo we stayed at.
Scott sledding down a hill we found at the park.

Scott pulling all of our ski equipment with the new wagons they supplied at the base. Cheese fondue A piece of sirloin with all the dipping sauces they gave us.
