Kellys Korner

This blog has become one of my favorite to look at. She lives just up the road in Northern Arkansas. She is a great Christian woman with an adorable little baby girl. She also has another blog called Kellys Reviews. So I went to see if I won a name plaque and what I found was even better. Go here to check out what the great surprise is:

Good Luck!! (Hopefully I will have the good luck!!)

About Time

I know, it has been a long time. In the past couple of months, we went to Baton Rouge and have taken engagement pictures. We went to see Shane, Sara, Ethan and baby #2 in Baton Rouge and went to a Saints game. It turned out to be a great game, Saints vs. Giants. As much as I love my Manning boys, I was so excited that the Saints won. They are now 9-0!!! Whoo hoo!!!!!!!!

We also got engagement pictures done the week before it starting getting cool. Scott's sister, Christy, did them and of the few I have seen, I love them. Hope to get to see more soon (hint, hint!). We went to a park in the St. Charles area and Knoop Park which is in the Heights.

Jackson is getting so big. Hopefully he will stop growing because he will be one in 4 weeks. On the wedding front, we have the caterer and the cake ordered. While Scott's mom, Doris, and his aunt, Mary, were in town last weekend, they and Christy set up a table of 4 different ideas for the reception. I was blown away. It was so elegant and it just makes me more excited. Friday will be 4 months or 16 weeks until the wedding (not counting down at all!). I am ready for it to be here, but I still feel like there is tons to do. It will be here before we know it!! If you haven't already, check out www.ewedding.com/sites/jnarrow22.

Check This Out

http://blogs.wishpot.com/wedding/2009/09/win-kate-spade-designer-handbag.html#comment-17861

I would love to win this bag. It is so hot!! Yes, I just said that!!! Everything is going good right now. Lots of papers and school work to get done, among the things to do for the wedding. Will write more later when I have a chance. I'm making a new wreath that more of you will like than the one I posted about before. Let me know if you would like to buy one. I will post pictures when I get it done.

6 months

I know it has been a while. I've started my final year of school!! Seems like I just finished my bachelor's. Oh yeah, I did. What a year it has been. I am in love with my internship, and the good thing is that I will be there until May of next year. The therapist I am working with is great. She is letting me do alot of the groups and individual sessions on my own. I also love that we have three children with autism or pdd (the umbrella disorder that autism falls under).

On another note, we have 6 months until the wedding. Nothing has really gotten done lately. I will address and mail the save the dates within the next week. We also need to take engagement pics before it gets too cool. Probably would have done it by now, but it has rained for like 10 straight days. Hopefully that is over and the ground can dry up. We have put together a document that lists things that need to get done before the wedding. Since this is my first, and only, wedding, we could use some help. If anyone who reads this would like to help, leave me a message and I will get it to you. Thanks so much for those of you that are already helping. I couldn't do it without you.

LSU Wreath

Here are some pictures of the wreath I made. I know the colors don't match up, but I still think it looks good. What do you think?

I would love to make wreath's for other people. If you want one, let me know.

FREEDOM!!!!!!!!

I have been out of school now for a week and two days, and I have another week until school starts back. It was a rough semester. I have finally caught up on all my sleep!! I finished school with 2 A's and a B. Would have had an A in the B class, but I had a root canal before the final. Root canal's are no fun. It was on my very back lower tooth, and it still hurts. The tooth doesn't really hurt, my jaw is what really hurts.

While I've been off, I've been working on stuff for the wedding. We have an appointment with the caterer on Saturday. I picked up my dress last week!! It is even better than when I first tried it on. I also put the deposit down on the flowers. The bad thing is that we are running out of money, and still need to pay for the remainder of the florist, the caterer and a dj, among other small things. Things will work out. Good news, I'm going to send out the save the dates next week!! That will be one thing off my list of many things to do.

These 16 days of summer vacation have not been the best vacation, but at least I got 16 days. I got to do a few fun things, read many of the Janet Evanovich books and am making a LSU wreath. Will post pictures of it when I'm done. About to start reading some of my books for class so that I can be on top of things for the first day.

One More Week

Summer school is almost officially over. I have 3 days of internship, 1 class, 1 final and 1 3 page paper to write. Not much left!! It has been so stressful, but very worth it. I will graduate in 31 weeks!! It seems so far away, but it will be here just like that. I have learned so much about Social Work at my internship. I have also learned that I do not want to work with the elderly. It was more fun than I thought it would be, but not what I want. I can't wait for the break, but I really can't wait to start my next internship. It will be at a place that works with developmentally disabled and mentally ill children. It is more like what I want to eventually do. Well, off to get dressed.

8 Months

We have 8 months until the wedding!! I have no idea what all I need to do because there is so much to do. I wish I had more time to devote to planning, but school has overtaken my life the past two months. During my break from school, I will try to get some more stuff done. Anyone who wants to help, I have something for you to do!!

In other news, I have 2 weeks left of the summer semester. I have 7 assignments left to do. Hope to get at least 3 of those done this week. I will be glad when the summer is over. 30 weeks worth of work done in 10 weeks has been stressful. I can see the light though!!

My Daddy

Click here to view these pictures larger

How Hard

Today was my day off, so after finishing a paper I watched the Michael Jackson memorial. The part that touched me the most was when his daughter said how much she loved him. How hard it must be to mourn in front of the world. I think she somewhat wanted to say something because of everyone elses touching words. I could not imagine doing what she did. I so know what they are going through because my dad died when I was 14. I think I cried so much during this service because it made me miss my daddy. I hope that these children have someone in their life that will help them during this very hard time.

I love you dad and I miss you so much. Soon, we will be together again. (But not too soon!!)

I know, I know

I know that I have not posted anything in a while. I have been so consumed with school lately. I have only 5 weeks left of the summer session, and it is going to be a tough 5 weeks. I have 12 process recordings to do, 1 individual assessment, 1 group assessment, an organizational assessment (maybe) and a organizational intervention. And that is just for my Internship. I also have two more assessments to do, but they are substantially shorter than the individual assessment (2 pages not 10 pages). I also have a research paper to write. I have all of the research done, I just need to get it down on paper. And I wonder why I have been having anxiety attacks. Yes, the past few weeks I have had about 4 attacks. Today, I went to the doctor and got put on some meds, but to use just as needed. So now I'm going back to working on my individual assessment. The good news is that I will have a great 4th. Scott and I are going to Dallas. We have a cram packed weekend. Rangers game, Six Flags and the Water Park. Hopefully I can make some time to meet Tanna, the "BEAST" who started the Challenge. Pray that I can get the bulk of my work done before we leave.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Happy 1st Birthday to my soon to be nephew Alex!!!! Oh, and happy birthday to my soon to be father-in-law Ken. I'm not sure how old he is!! Can't wait for the Sesame Street party this weekend. Hope I didn't spoil the surprise for Ken. I know he is really looking forward to it!!

Ken is actually holding Lucas, but it is the only picture I had of him!!

LOVE IT

I am loving my internship. I took this position because I wanted to challenge myself. I have never worked with the older generation, so I wanted to before I got out of school. I don't think I want to work with this population when I finish, but I like what I am doing. It is so good to see someone come in not really knowing anything, even who they are, and seeing them come into their own. I had a man today that would sit at the back of the room during group. Today, he came to the table and sat beside me and asked me about my schooling. It was so fullfilling to see his progress. There are even times when I don't want them to leave, but I know they have to.

So I finally got my financial aid. Long story, but they put a hold on it and didn't take it off when they were supposed to, which is a month ago. I finally sent enough emails, like 15, and called that they figured out that they were wrong and I should have had my money last week. At least I got it all, so I can't complain that it was a week late. It's not like it is being used for anything good, just bills (and maybe a few wedding items!!).

The Woes of Financial Aid

So, I was supposed to get my refund check in on June 4th. Did not happen. I was on the phone with financial aid for 20 minutes today, and still didn't find out what was wrong except that there is a hold on my account. I have sent at least 10 emails since last week and have had no response. I will be in the office tomorrow morning for as long as it takes for them to give me my money. It is loan money, so I'm not sure why they are withholding it. I have to pay it back. Guess we will see what they say tomorrow.

First week of Advanced Standing

My first week in the master's program started last week. It went by fast. I only have 9 more weeks of the summer program!! My internship is going good, and I think I am really going to like it. I am working on a geriatric unit at Baptist hospital. Most of the patients have Alzheimer's. I picked this place to challenge myself. I did not want to ever work with the elderly. I am learning that it is not as bad as I had thought. Pray that the next 9 weeks go by just as fast and I get all the work done!!

Win a Wii / Challenge Update

So the past few days I have been telling Scott that I want a Wii. I want to use it to work out with. Scott does not want to buy one because he says "You can work out without having to pay money." While that is true, it would be nice to have one. I happened to stumble upon a website today that is giving one away. Check it out http://www.christianpf.com/wii/.

So, I lost 5 pounds on the first challenge. I didn't meet my goal, but I feel better. I also went down a dress size!!! I started challenge 2 today. I hope to lose about 7 pounds in 12 weeks. I want to lose a little more, but am going to start at 7. I really just want to tone up for the wedding.

Graduation Pictures

Here are some pictures from graduation.

The nice pearls I am wearing are my graduation present from Scott. He did a great job picking out the necklace and earrings.

Wedding Dress Shopping

A few weeks ago, mom, Christy and I went wedding dress shopping at Alfred Angelo. I fell in love with the second dress I tried on, and bought it!! Here are some pictures of the day. My dress may be one of the dresses!!

It's Official

After 8 years of being out of high school, I have finally graduated. I have a BSW, bachelor of social work. Yesterday, I graduated with my social work class, and today I graduated with the school. Not to worry though because in 10 days I will start school all over again!!! At least I made it into the advanced masters program. That means I only have one more year of school. This time next year I will be a newlywed and a MSW, masters of social work. And hopefully a month after, I will be a LMSW, licensed masters of social work!! Pictures to come once I get them from Christy. Thanks to all who came and supported me. It meant a lot.

Oh, what a feeling ...

The past few days have been bad. Jeffrey got in a fight with mom, I got in two tiffs with mom and now today is the worst. I am graduating this weekend. It should be a happy time in my life. And it is, but it has its bad points also. Only 4 people besides my mom and brother from my side of the family will be here. And 2 of them are leaving right after graduation to go to an uncle's wedding. I'm not surprised at all because it seems like they never come for anything of mine or Jeffrey's. Such is life though. At least Scott's family will be in attendance.

Scott's Birthday Present from the Chance's

Christy took some great pictures of Jackson a few weeks ago. She had 4 of them printed on matte board for Scott's birthday present. They are a great addition to the house.

This one is my favorite. I love the tounge hanging out!!

Week 3

Oh what a week it has been. Scott turned 30. I hope he had a great birthday. I had my final class in my undergraduate career. I had my last final in Krain's class, which I did great on. It has been a tough week on the challenge. I did use a cheat last night on a brownie, but the thing is I didn't really want it. I didn't really taste good. That was a great feeling. My blood sugars have been great since starting the challenge. I just need to exercise more. I had one good workout and hope to have another good one tomorrow. This rain needs to end so I can do more outside. Well, next week I should be able to workout everyday because I am done with school!!!! One week and I will be a college graduate!!

Day 7 / Deck Pictures

Day 7

Today was the last day of one of my classes at school. I have had Dr. Krain both two years of my undergrad in Social Work. He is one of my favorite teachers. I will miss him dearly. I may have to take one of his classes in grad school just to get my Krain fix!! We also had a final party in our Seminar classes. We had pizza and cake. I had neither. I knew I was going to use one of my cheats this weekend at Oaklawn. We are going to watch the Kentucky Derby and for Scott's birthday.

Scott sealed the deck this past weekend. Here are some pictures.

Days 6, 7 and 8

Day 6

This was a great day. I took the dog for a walk around the block. Then, I let my brother take him back home and I went for another walk/run around the block. All in all, about 2 miles!! I then went wedding dress shopping with my Mom and Christy!!! And I bought one, well mom bought one!! It was the second one I tried on, and I love it. Now I just need to get my arms in shape. Scott and Jeffrey had gone to eat while I was gone, so I got a grilled chicken sandwich from Sonic without the mayo. Dinner was a challenge. We went to Christy and Josh's for a cookout. There were a lot of veggies and fruit, so that is what I filled up on. This was a great day. Oh, this was our weigh in day. I lost almost 2 pounds!!! 10 more to go.

Day 7

We usually eat out for lunch and dinner on Sunday, so I was worried. I was craving pizza after church, so we went to US Pizza. Scott and I split a salad and got a pizza with artichokes and peppers. It was okay and it satisfied the craving, but not what I really wanted. We went with the Chance's on a walk. It was mainly to scout out places for our engagement pictures, but we got a good walk in also. The last part is horrible because you have to go up a steep hill. I felt the burn afterwards. It was worth it though. For dinner, we had sushi and for dessert we had a smoothie that was under 200 calories and made with splenda!!

Day 8

I did nothing today. I wrote a couple papers that were due on Tuesday and took an online test. I have a couple more papers to write before class ends on Thursday. It was supposed to storm all day, so I didn't take the dog for a walk. What a mistake. It rained a little, but no storms. I ate well today, but was very hungry all day. This is going to be a tough week. Bad weather all week, supposedly, and a lot of finish work to do for school. Oh well, such is life.

Friday, April 24, 2009

Day 5

So, I changed the look of the blog. The colors are our wedding colors!! Day 5 has gone well. Today was the first day this week that I ate out. I think I did pretty well. I went to lunch with mom at Jason's Deli. I had a salad without cheese and low-fat dressing (and not a lot which was hard because I love dressing). For dinner, Scott and I went to our normal Friday night dinner, Senor Tequila's. We shared fajitas and I ate very few chips and salsa. No cheese dip this week :(. Jackson and I went on a run/walk this morning. Would have gone 2 miles, but my ears started hurting. Will try more tomorrow.

Day 4

Day 4 of the challenge went okay. I had to go to the doctor because I have not been able to shake an infection in both of my ears. I was put on 3 medications, which seem to be helping!! While waiting at the pharmacy for my meds, I so wanted to cheat. I wanted some chocolate so bad, but I resisted. I didn't get to exercise and I kinda wish I would have just done it because Jackson wanted to so badly. Will update tomorrow on how much I have lost in the first week.

Wednesday, April 22, 2009

Day 2 and 3

Day 2 went well. I did not have to use any cheats. I was at school most of the day, so I think that is why it went so well. For dinner, we had a vegatable stir-fry and homemade carrot salad (with low fat mayo). It was so good. Today has not gone very well. I ate breakfast but was still hungry. I had a couple of chips and went to work on a term paper I needed to get done. Jackson drove me crazy. He was all over my papers and just plain wild. I got my paper done and took him for a walk. It went okay, but since it was trash day, he wanted to stop and smell everyone's trash can (thank goodness the trash man had already come). About half way through, we ran for almost the rest of the way. Boy was I tired, and I'm pretty sure Jackson was too because he has been sleeping since then. I need to get my stamina built up so I can walk/run longer than a mile. I ate leftover dinner for lunch, but am sitting here starving. I think I may have some fruit. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. Oh, and I have only had one Diet Dr. Pepper in 3 days!! Not trying to cut them out, just drink less caffeine.

Monday, April 20, 2009

Day 1 of the Challenge

So, I was supposed to wake up at 5:45 to go running with Jackson, but I slept in. I will start my exercise on Wednesday since I have school from 8 to 5 tomorrow. The healthy eating has been going good. The only thing I have had a problem with is the lack of caffeine. I am trying my hardest not to drink any Diet Dr. Pepper, but I think I may have to have one a day. I will be updating each day of the challenge. Thanks for the support.

Just What I Needed

I will finish with the Colorado blog eventually. Just a quick note. I was looking at friend's blogs and came upon something that sounded great. I am going to start a 42 day weight loss program along with some fabulous people. I don't know many, maybe only 1. I think this is just what I need. It will help tremendously with my diabetes, but also get me into shape. I have been telling Scott that we need to start cooking better and I wanted to start a diet. I'm glad that I came upon this. You can check it out on the Precious Moments blog to the right. Thanks for coming up with a great idea.

Colorado 2009

Last week we were in Winter Park, Colorado. This was our third year to go there. The first day, Sunday, we were there it was beautiful, a balmy 50 degrees and sunny. We should have skied this day, but instead we went shopping. We took our skis and equipment to the base of the mountain to store. They have a new lift that takes you to the new part of the base, The Village, to the parking lot. They also now have wagons to haul your things. We ate at a new place on Sunday night, Gausteaus Eichler. They had both traditional German food or fondue. We chose to eat the fondue. It was an experience neither of us had had before. We had cheese fondue with bread, apples and broccoli; meat fondue with sirloin, shrimp and chicken; and chocolate fondue with pound cake, strawberries, melon and pineapple. It was good, but overwhelming. We will not be visiting this restaurant again. Monday, we went skiing. Scott and I did not start the day off well because I was annoyed. I ended up falling a couple of times, one was really bad. I flipped over and one ski was stuck under my bottom. I just laid on the ground because I was hurting so bad. The guys in the lift above me shouted down to me to see if I was okay. I was okay, but my ankle was hurt. I tried to ski a little longer, and eventually had to go in because I could not move my skis to the left. We went to the hot tub and to a nice dinner. Scott proposed to me this night!! It was a total shock. This night we went to Dino's Mountain Bistro. We both had steak and neither of us liked what we got. The only good thing I had was the berry pie dessert. We will not be visiting this restaurant again either. Tuesday, we stayed in because my ankle still hurt. We went to our regular tubing outing and had a great time. They had a new area to tube down that was steep and slick!! We went to eat at our old standby, Hernando's. They have such good pizza. Wednesday, Scott skied and I went for a massage. The massage was great. Scott had a great day of skiing the areas that I don't ski with him. We ate at a new place, The Green Olive. We got lost trying to find it, so it was doomed from the beginning. The waitress was very weird and the food was not very good. I got shrimp pasta and was appalled when I saw that the shrimp covered with melted cheese still had the tails on them. What a disaster. We will not visit this place again either. The next two days are covered in the next post.
The condo we stayed at.
Scott sledding down a hill we found at the park.

Scott pulling all of our ski equipment with the new wagons they supplied at the base. Cheese fondue A piece of sirloin with all the dipping sauces they gave us.

Holy Cow!!!

So, tonight before we went to dinner, Scott proposed!!!! So surprised. Here are some pictures of the ring. Christy: get ready to take some great engagement pictures!!

A Quick Note

We arrived in Winter Park, Colorado at 6:20 pm. We left Little Rock at 4:30 am. I did not feel like a 14 hour drive. I was able to sleep two hours because I did not get home from work until 11 pm the night before. So, while we were stopped for lunch, Jeffrey, my brother, called. He informed me that I got a letter from UALR. As most of you know, I have been waiting on this letter to know if I got into the 1 year Advanced Standing Social Work masters program. Well... I got in!!!!!! I'm so excited. Only 1 year until I can start doing what I love. Will post pics from Colorado soon.

Graduation Photos 2

Here are a few more pictures.

Graduation Pictures

Yesterday, I had Christy take some photos for my graduation invitations. We had such a good time. I have very squinty eyes, so Christy made me open my eyes very wide. Well, we couldn't quit laughing because I was making some faces while trying to keep my eyes open. Even though we had trouble, I think she got some good shots. I wish it would have been a little bit prettier. Here are some of my favorites. Let me know which ones you like best. One will be chosen to be put on the invitations.

Jackson Scare

Jackson was diagnosed with Roundworm when we first got him. We had to give him 3 shots then wait 10 days and give him 3 more. Saturday started his second doses. He got really sick. He started throwing up and bad diarrhea. We called the emergency vet on Sunday, and he told us to continue to give the medicine. We did, and he seemed okay Sunday night. I called our regular vet on Monday, and they said not to give him another dose. Monday night was horrible. He threw up again. The diarrhea had not stopped since Saturday. So, this morning I get to the vet when they open at 7. Well, the vets don't come in until about 8 or 8:30, depending on when they have their first appointment. So while we waited, they did a fecal test for worms. It came back negative. Next, check his temperature with a rectal thermometer. Normal. The vet finally gets in at 8:20. He tests for Parvo and Giardia. Two more rectal tests. They both came back negative. The vet wanted to do a second worm test. It came back negative also. 5 tests with something going up Jackson's rectum. That is some day!!

So, the vet asked if he could do an abdomen scan. Of course (hope it doesn't cost much). Well, that came back and showed that Jackson had an obscene amount of gas in his intestines. The vet wanted to keep him for the day. They gave him fluids (90 dollars in fluids). They gave him an antibiotic. They then gave him some food around 4:20. The vet called and said to come get Jackson because he was bouncing off the walls. The vet said he had bacterial inurites (I think that is how it is spelled). He ate something bad that upset his stomach. Hopefully this won't happen again. This little accident cost us almost $400. What a costly little dog he is already. We wouldn't trade him for the world though. Just no more snooping around the backyard!!

Jackson Update

Whew, Jackson is a handful. He has caused Scott and I to fight lately. We do not know how to handle his devilish attitude. Here are some pictures of what he has done to Scott and I. Jackson has done more harm to Scott's arms than mine. He is also getting much bigger. He gained 6 pounds in one week.

This is my favorite picture of Jackson.

Las Vegas Part 4

After all this walking, we went to eat lunch. We were drenched and tired, so we decided just to go back to our hotel. We dried off and played some slots. We sat down at Hee Haw, a penny machine. I ended up winning $315 on it. We didn't want to get back out, so we ate at another restaurant in our hotel, The Top of the World restaurant. It is at the top of the Stratosphere Tower, 106 stories up. The view was good and bad because the floor spun around. When we first sat down, we were on the side with all the fog. By the end of our meal, we had seen the strip from the "top of the world." It took a little while to get comfortable with the spinning, but we eventually did. The food was good and expensive.

All in all, Vegas was a great trip. The plane rides could have been better and it would have been nice if it didn't rain. We had a fun time thanks to Mom and Denise.
